The fires in Los Angeles continue to burn across Southern California, and production of numerous television shows has been suspended until further notice.
As of Wednesday, Jan. 8, two people have died in a fire in Eaton, LA County Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone announced, according to CBS News and NBC News. According to CalFire, five separate wildfires are burning in the Los Angeles area, and more than 30,000 residents have been evacuated from Pacific Palisades and neighboring areas by the afternoon of January 7.
In addition to school closures and evacuation orders, Hollywood is also pressing pause until the wildfires are under control.

On Jan. 8, PEOPLE confirmed that the awards ceremony, originally scheduled to be hosted by Chelsea Handler on Sunday, Jan. 12, was postponed due to a natural disaster.
The new date is set for Sunday, January 26, at the original location at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. The show will be broadcast live on E! and available to stream on Peacock the next day.

LA fire chief says understaffed to fight fires: ‘We’re doing the best we can’
“This unfolding tragedy has already deeply affected our community. All of our thoughts and prayers are with those battling the devastating fires and with everyone affected,” Critics Choice Association CEO Joey Berlin said in a statement.
The news comes after the SAG Awards canceled its live nominations announcement earlier in the day. Other Los Angeles events like movie premieres for movies like Unstoppable and The last showgirl they were also canceled out of an abundance of caution.
