Jasjit Singh Gill, popularly known as Jimmy Sheirgill, is an Indian actor and film producer who works primarily in the Hindi and Punjabi film industries. He rose to fame with his role as ‘Karan Chaudhry’ in the Bollywood film ‘Mohabbatein’.

Jimmy Sheirgill was born on Thursday, December 3, 1970 (age 49; as of 2019) in Deokahia village, Sardar Nagar, Gorakhpur District, Uttar Pradesh. His zodiac sign is Sagittarius. Jimmy was born into an aristocratic landowning family in Punjab. Shergill attended St. Paul’s College, Lucknow, Punjab Public School, Nabha and Yadavendra Public School, Patiala. While at school, Jimmy wanted to join the armed forces. He attended Bikram College, Punjab University, where he pursued a bachelor’s degree in commerce. Thereafter, Jimmy studied at Post Graduate Government College – 11, Punjab University, Chandigarh for his postgraduate graduation. When Shergill was in college, his cousin Su Mingde convinced him to try his luck in the film industry. After graduation, Jimmy moved to Mumbai to become an actor. He took acting classes from Roshan Taneja in Mumbai to learn acting. In 1994, when Gulzar was directing Maachis, Jimmy went to him seeking an opportunity to help him. At that time, Gulzar invited him to play a small role in the film.
