Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple are getting closer to finding their New York getaway.
The Golden Bachelor stars, who got engaged on the Nov. 13 series finale, spoke to PEOPLE exclusively at Ben Higgins Almost famous Baby Shower event on Thursday, December 5, about their search for their dream apartment.
“It’s just not like moving. It’s going to be our little honeymoon spot,” says Vassos, 61, to which Chapple, 60, adds: “It’s going to be a love shack.”

Chapple tells PEOPLE that after spending time in New York, he and Vassos discovered they “really like SoHo” and are “going to take some time and try to find a great place in SoHo.”
As for what they’re looking for, Vassos tells PEOPLE they want to find a place with at least two bedrooms so friends and family can visit.

With her living in Maryland and Chapple in Kansas, Vassos tells PEOPLE that the home away from home will be “a great place for us to really continue to get to know each other in a completely different place, a place we’ve both always wanted to go. ”
“It’s going to be a bit of an adventure, and to have an adventure at this stage is kind of unique and I really feel super lucky that we can do this together,” she adds.
They both agree that it’s a step they’ve always wanted to take.

“And my kids absolutely love New York,” Chapple says. “They have friends there and we’ve been there. And I’m in their life. We’re all fun and it’s all good.”
Speaking to PEOPLE in November, Chapple said they plan to use their New York apartment as a getaway, but not a permanent residence.

“We’re going to go back and forth between Kansas and Maryland and New York. We’re going to have a permanent place in New York and whenever we get a chance, we’re going to be there. We’re going to figure it out next year,” he said.
