Joe Alwyn has no time for internet trolls.
The actor, 33, broke his silence on his split with Taylor Swift and opened up about the speculation and harassment that followed in a new interview with Sunday Times style.
Alwyn laughed when asked about wearing a mask to avoid attention, but said he tries to stay away from online comments about his personal life, Swift-related or not.

“I’m trying to keep the volume down,” he said in an interview published on Saturday, June 15.
He added, however, “obviously I was aware of that and I think abusing anyone, whether in person or behind the anonymity of a keyboard, is shameful.”

The Conversations with friends The actor’s ability to ignore trolls is helped by his close-knit family and network of “brilliant, authentic people” in his life, he told times.
“I try to live in reality and away from the kind of online noise of Twitter – or wherever it’s coming from – and try to stay in the moment,” Alwyn explained.
Elsewhere in the interview, the actor said his more than six-year relationship with Swift, 34, had been “long, loving” and “totally committed” – and said he was now in a “really great place”.

When asked if he is being listened to Department for tortured poets — the pop star’s latest album, which fans think alludes to the couple splitting up in April 2023 — Alwyn said: “Thinking about what I was going to say, I would think and hope that anyone and everyone can empathize. … This is not a direct answer to your question, but just a reflection on what I want to talk about.”
“I hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years,” he continued. “It’s something difficult to navigate.”
And, Alwyn pointed out Time“What is unusual and abnormal about this situation is that, a week later, it is suddenly in the public domain and the outside world is able to interfere.”

“So you have something very real suddenly thrown into a very unreal space: tabloids, social media, print, where it’s then dissected, pulled out of shape beyond recognition,” he continued. “And the truth is, until that last point, there will always be a gap between what is known and what is said.”
“I’ve come to terms with it,” he added.

The Kinds of kindness The actor also said he sees no reason to elaborate on why the couple broke up, despite what Swift’s fans may be speculating.
“As everyone knows, we have decided together – both of us, mutually – to keep the more private details of our relationship private,” he said. “It’s never been something that can be turned into a commodity and I see no reason for that to change now.”
“And, look, this was also just over a year ago, and I feel fortunate to be in a really great place in my life, professionally and personally,” he added. “I feel very good.”

As for his romantic life, Alwyn’s lips remain sealed. “I’m sure you know, given the level of noise and scrutiny of my past relationship, why I wouldn’t want to open the door to that kind of thing right now,” he said.
After her split from Alwyn, Swift dated Kansas City Chiefs football player Travis Kelce.
