Joey King Says Best Moment of 2023 Was ‘Marrying This Babe’ Alongside Adorable Photo of Husband Steven Piet

Joey King looks back on a very memorable year.

In a post on his Instagram Story on Friday, Kissing Booth The 24-year-old star shared with her fans her best moment of 2023. “I’m marrying this kid,” she wrote alongside a photo of her and husband Steven Piet kissing at their September wedding in Mallorca, Spain.

In the picture, the two look wet – probably from their impromptu plunge. King recently told Elite Daily that she and Piet jumped into their reception pool to cool off.

“It wasn’t planned because we already had a pool party the next day. I have never danced harder in my life than at my wedding. My husband and I got so hot, we were sweating so much. You know that heat when you can start to feel your heartbeat on your face? I was so hot,” the actress told the newspaper.

Although the jump was spontaneous, King had enough foresight to alert wedding photographers so they could capture the fun moment.

“I knew the photographers would want to know, so I told them we’d do it. Then we just jumped in and it was the most fun because so many people joined us in their fancy dresses,” she recalled. “That was the most romantic moment for me. It was so spontaneous, and it felt like such a movie, honestly. I liked the camaraderie in it all.”

King and Piet held their wedding at La Fortaleza, a historic, centuries-old fortress high on a hill, surrounded by around 100 guests. The actress told Vogue the venue was everything she envisioned for her dream wedding.

“We were looking for something unique and private that was grand yet intimate at the same time,” she said. “We found La Fortaleza in Mallorca and it seems like the Spanish version The Great Gatsby. It is historically undated. It felt timeless, the same way we feel our love for each other.”

The ceremony – during which the couple exchanged handwritten vows – took place at the pool on the lower terrace at the top of the fortress.

“Looking down the aisle at all our friends and family was an unforgettable moment,” King said Vogue. “We really felt so perfectly present, and soaking in every detail was pure magic.”

Ahead of the wedding, King celebrated her bachelorette party with family and friends in Napa, California. The actress told PEOPLE that her sisters planned the evening, held at Cakebread Cellars.

“They did such an amazing job, so I felt so showered with love,” she said, adding that the night got a little wild.

“It was crazy. We went to a wine tasting, my sister threw up. It was funny,” she told PEOPLE.

King and Piet, who got engaged in February 2022, first met on set Rank. They established a friendship that soon grew into something more.

“There was such an instant ease. “I was very much in love, but I was waiting until it was over to ask him out,” King said Vogue. “I gathered my courage and took him aside to tell him how I felt. It was the best decision of my life!”
