John Cena Says Rob Gronkowski Is ‘Going to Miss’ His Super Bowl Kick, but ‘I Think I Could Make It’ (Exclusive)

There’s not a single John Cena who believes Rob Gronkowski can make the planned field goal that’s scheduled to happen moments before Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas next month. 47, laughed during a recent interview with PEOPLE. “He missed last year. And I think he will miss this year.”

FanDuel’s new Super Bowl ad campaign pits Gronkowski, 34, against the wrestler-turned-actor over the upcoming kick. Fans will be able to make free picks on the FanDuel Sportsbook app, guessing whether or not the four-time Super Bowl champion will make it.

In last year’s attempt — dubbed the “Blow of Destiny” — Gronkowski missed the left side. This year, Gronkowski will be in front of a live audience in Las Vegas and getting a makeover.

FanDuel runs a series of commercials before kickoff. One ad shows a disheveled Gronkowski walking aimlessly through the desert after missing last year’s shot. Then an unlikely coach appears to take Gronkowski under his wing: Carl Weathers. Weathers, 76, believes Gronkowski can make the shot, while Cena — who plays Gronkowski’s “arch nemesis” in the commercial that follows — doesn’t. Fans can place their free pick with either Weathers or Cena, depending on their confidence in Gronkowski’s cleats.
