Meredith Gaudreau, widow of Johnny Gaudreau, is adjusting to life without the late NHL star.
On Friday, September 20, Meredith posted three interview clips with Johnny on Instagram, including one where he talked about becoming a new father with local network WBNS in October 2022.
Sharing the throwback snap, Meredith wrote that she’s having a “hard time” as their daughter Noah’s second birthday approaches in the coming weeks. Johnny and his brother Matthew Gaudreau were killed on August 29 when an allegedly drunk driver crashed into them on their bicycles in Oldmans Township, New Jersey. (Johnny was 31 and Matthew was 29.)
“She likes to watch daddy videos before bed, especially her ‘daddy hockey’ requests which led me to these videos,” Meredith wrote of Noa. “Loves to watch him play and cheers for him on the screen. His biggest fan.”
As Meredith explained, Noa and her dad “loved each other very much” and she “even has the same freckle on her right cheek as he does.”
“And as she approaches turning 2, I’m told their personalities are becoming more and more similar ❤️ and I can’t wait for that to continue,” she concluded the post.

In the following clip from the same interview, in which Johnny explained that “the most important thing” to him is being around his family when it comes to the team he plays for, Meredith elaborated on her admiration for her husband.
“My perfect husband. I want to say that watching these videos makes me so grateful, but to be honest, I’ve never felt like the happiest and most grateful girl in the world since the day I met him,” Meredith wrote in her second caption. “Videos like this [are] why. I love you so much John. Thank you for being the perfect husband.”
In a recent Instagram post, Meredith shared a clip of an interview with Johnny talking about Sean Monahan, his close friend and fellow NHL player. The pair were teammates with the Calgary Flames for eight seasons before Johnny signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2022.
“Watching Sean get a CBJ is something I know John has always wanted,” Meredith said. “Noa also likes to root for Uncle Sean. I wish 23 a good training camp and I can’t wait to cheer you on.”

Meredith and Johnny are parents to daughter Noah, who is approaching her second birthday, and son Johnny, 7 months. During Johnny’s memorial service earlier this month, Meredith announced that she is expecting a second child with her late husband next year. She said creating a “family of five” was the “ultimate blessing”.
“How lucky am I to be a mother to John’s three babies? Our last one is a blessing and so special despite these difficult circumstances,” Meredith said.
Earlier this week, the Columbus Blue Jackets announced that their players will wear stickers on their helmets and patches on their uniforms this season in honor of Johnny.
The organization will also observe a moment of silence before the team’s first preseason home game and will hold a 50/50 raffle during the preseason to benefit the John and Matthew Gaudreau Foundation.
