JoJo Siwa Describes Dance Moms as a 'Massive' But 'Detrimental' Part of Her Career

JoJo Siwa shares her experience Dance Moms it was a “harmful” but “big” part of her career.

On Tuesday, May 7, the episode of her JoJo Siwa now podcast, Siwa, 20, recalled first joining the Lifetime series.

“Today we kind of go back, not necessarily to how it started for me and how I became a public human being, but something that I think was really detrimental to my career and was huge for me, which is Dance Moms”, she began at the beginning of the episode, pointing out that she had just participated in Dance moms reunion.

“The Dance Moms the reunion, you know, it was definitely a bag of bones for me,” she explained. Siwa assured listeners that this was not the case with the original series.

Although Siwa said that he is acting in the Dance moms was “harmful” and “massive”, she did not provide details as to why. Instead, she described the series as “the greatest blessing [her] whole life.”

“That’s one of the things I’m most grateful for,” Siwa said, adding, “Of course, there were tough days.”

For Siwa, those “difficult days” were not something she ran away from. She said on her podcast that “love, blood and sweat” got her to where she is today. “It’s a huge part of my career that I’ll always and forever be fucking grateful for.”

Also during the sequel, Siwa opened up about her decision to leave Dance moms in season 6 after she signed a deal with Nickelodeon. She explained that while she loved her experience on the show and coach Abby Lee Miller, she can’t wait for another chance.

“It was tough though because I really enjoyed being a part of it,” Siwa said. “I loved it. I loved my friends. I didn’t think my friends would still be friends with me if I wasn’t on the show. I didn’t know how the world would react. It was really hard because it was so real. It was all I knew.”

She admitted that she and her mother Jessalynn discussed the decision; but he still believes that leaving the show was the “right choice”.

“I’m very grateful to have finished Dance Moms as I did,” said Siwa. She shared that she got advice from a Dancing with the stars cast member who said she and her mother should go while they still love it.

“I could have been there longer, I should have been there longer, I wanted to be there longer,” Siwa said. “I think I’m leaving Dance Moms while I still loved it was the best decision.”
