Jon Gosselin says his son Collin is starting a new chapter after being discharged from the Marine Corps.
The father of eight told TMZ that Collin is now a freshman at Penn State, sharing, “He’s in college. He’s doing really well. He’s just moving forward despite everything that’s happened to him.”
After Jon and Kate Gosselin divorced in 2009, Kate eventually won custody of the children and sent Collin to an institution for what she claimed was “unpredictable and violent behavior” when he was 12 years old.
Last month, ex Kate Plus 8 the child star, now 20, said Party tonight that he was discharged from the Marine Corps after they discovered he had “been institutionalized at one point in my life.” He noted that he plans to appeal the decision.

Earlier this month, the student also came forward with allegations of abuse against his mother, which were later denied by Kate’s lawyer.
When asked about his son’s decision to speak out about the alleged abuse, Jon told TMZ, “I believe that was the end for him.”
However, Jon doesn’t see a reconciliation between Collin and Kate coming anytime soon. He explained, “I mean, if I had to predict, I don’t think it’s ever going to happen just because there’s a lot of animosity.”

Hannah Gosselin posted the photos on Instagram two days after brother Collin accused mum Kate of ‘aggressive’ abuse
During the interview with Sun On September 10, Collin described the alleged abuse he suffered while living with Kate Plus 8 alum.
“My mother had a room built in our unfinished part of the storage basement,” he claimed. “It had a room with cameras, a little window in the corner and it was bolted from the outside. It was like a closed room, literally, and it had a mattress on the floor and that’s how I lived.”
Collin claimed he was locked in that room for most of the day, and eventually “never really came out,” not even cutting school. “I’ve never played with [my siblings]. They kept me there. It was literally being restrained,” he claimed before alleging physical abuse by his reality star mother.
“My mother became many, many times, most of the time, physically aggressive, verbally, very abusive with the things she would say,” Collin claimed, labeling their relationship “very emotionally abusive.”
He went on to say that he didn’t “know any better” as a child, but now he sees things more clearly.
“When my mother repeatedly put me in that room, she tied my hands and feet and locked the door with a bolt, turned off the lights and installed cameras that only watched me,” he claimed.

Kate’s attorney Richard Puelo responded to Collin’s abuse allegations in an interview with Fox News, but declined to comment on the latest claims that Kate physically “isolated” him from his other siblings in a locked room.
“She never wants to comment because she always knows this is taken out of context,” Puleo told the newspaper. “She doesn’t want to comment. She doesn’t need to. The record speaks for itself.”
“The facts belie the truth. Whatever happened, what’s true is what happened… She has no comment because it won’t change the past. And I don’t believe she intentionally hurt any of her children in any way, shape or form. shape,” he asserted.
