Jonathan Majors and Meagan Good Are Not Married, Source Says, Despite Him Calling Her ‘the Missus’ (Exclusive)

Jonathan Majors and Meagan Good are still in the dating phase of their relationship.

During the weekend, Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania the actor sparked questions about whether he and Good were secretly married after he publicly addressed the Shazam: Wrath of the Gods actress as “Miss”.

But a source close to the couple, who were first linked in May, tells PEOPLE that they are not married.

Representatives for Majors, 36, and Good, 42, did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

The pair were at the eighth annual Congressional Black and White Gala co-hosted by Good and Larenz Tate in Washington DC on Saturday when Majors sparked speculation with his comment.

Addressing the crowd, Good said: “We are so happy to be here tonight with all of you, celebrating us, celebrating the moves we make, celebrating the way we love and support each other, the way we change the world. Let’s enjoy! So many beautiful black faces. I love us, all of you! We are so beautiful! That’s all I got. I’m happy to be here and I love you all!”

She then handed it to Majors, asking, “Honey, is there something you want to say?” Speaking into the microphone, Majors said: “You all heard miss, so it is what it is.”

PEOPLE confirmed in May that Majors and Good, who finalized her divorce from DeVon Franklin in June 2022 after nine years of marriage, were dating. “Meagan and Jonathan have maintained a friendship for some time,” a source told PEOPLE of their romance. “Meagan has shown him significant support. Their relationship seems to have developed further from that point.”

A timeline of Jonathan Majors’ recent controversies

News of their pairing emerged around the time Majors was charged with allegedly physically assaulting a woman while riding in a New York taxi in March. Court documents from the Manhattan District Attorney’s office, obtained by PEOPLE, allege that Majors allegedly “[struck the victim] with an open fist on her face, causing her severe pain and a laceration behind her ear.”

Majors “absolutely denies assaulting the woman,” according to his attorney, Priya Chaudhry, who also argued that the woman was being disingenuous about her version of events.

“This is a witch hunt against Jonathan Majors, driven by baseless allegations,” Chaudhry said in a statement to PEOPLE after the May 9 hearing. “Instead of dropping the charges in the face of the woman’s clear lies, the prosecution adjusted the charges to fit the woman’s new lies.”

Chaudhry told PEOPLE that Belief III star filed his own domestic violence lawsuit in late June, calling his time with the alleged victim “an ongoing nightmare in their relationship.” She said: “Over the last agonizing four months, Jonathan Majors, the true victim in this shameful ordeal, has had his life, career and reputation destroyed. Yet he remains steadfast in his determination to be freed from this harrowing ordeal.”

Amid Majors’ legal troubles, Good’s friends respected her choice.

“It’s obviously not the best situation, but they’re letting her make her own decisions,” a source told PEOPLE in June. “It was a bit of a shock to see her go [Franklin]with faith at the center of their marriage, with Jon, but also understandable why she would choose someone who is completely different after being with the same person for so long and it not working out for her.”
