But by the early 2000s, he retired and left Home improvement early and finishes his acting roles.
“I’ve been going non-stop since I was 8,” he told PEOPLE in 2013. “I wanted to go to school, travel and get some rest.”

In that 1994 interview, Claudine told PEOPLE that her son’s charisma was evident from early childhood, “even when he was 18 months old. He seemed older than his age and was really outgoing,” she recalled. “Everybody kept saying, ‘Wow! Why don’t you put him on TV.’ ”
But by the time he left from Home improvement and graduated from college, he seemed resigned to putting that chapter behind him.
“I’ve never taken fame too seriously,” he told PEOPLE in a 2013 chat. “It was a great period in my life, but it doesn’t define me. When I think back to that time, I look at him with a wink. I focus on the good times I had, not on being on a lot of magazine covers.”
