Jonny Lee Miller Recalls ‘Terrifying’ Parachuting Date with ‘Fearless’ Ex-Wife Angelina Jolie in Rare Comments

The Evil The actress’ ex-husband, Jonny Lee Miller, stopped by Radio X’s Johnny Vaughan on Wednesday to reveal that he once jumped out of a plane to Lara Croft: Tomb Raider movie star, 48.

Their argument began when Vaughan, 57, said Basic alum, 51, that he and his co-hosts regularly have a segment where they discuss “the things you do for love.”

“How have you ever tried to impress the object of your love?” – asked the DJ.

Recalling that moment, Miller laughed as he shared his response.

“I jumped out of the plane,” he told the surprised presenters and added: “Well, it wasn’t my idea.”

Vaughan pressed his guest, asking Miller why he would do such a thing.

“I was dating a young lady named Angelina,” he revealed, as a picture of Jolie popped up on the screen. “And she said, ‘Let’s do something exciting this weekend.'”

The Eternals the actress somehow convinced Miller to travel to Hemet, a town near Los Angeles, to have some fun.

“She’s cool as a cucumber. Fearless, that woman,” he said of his ex-wife.

Miller and Jolie met while working on the 1995 film Hackers. Soon after, the couple married in a small civil ceremony in 1996. However, they split just a year later, claiming that busy schedules kept them apart.

Jolie filed for divorce in 1999, and it was finalized the same year.

Although the two went their separate ways, they remained cordial with each other in the years that followed.

In 2003, she called him “a solid man and a solid friend.”

Two years later, they were seen having dinner together in London. “There were a lot of laughs,” an onlooker told PEOPLE at the time. “Obviously everyone enjoyed themselves. You could tell (she) and Jonny are still very good friends.”

On August 23, 2014, Jolie married Brad Pitt — who she also met on the set of their 2005 film. Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

Although they have since divorced, the former couple has six children: Maddox Chivan (22), Zahara Marley (19), Shiloh Nouvel (17), Pax Thien (20) and twins Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline (15).

In an interview for VogueDigital cover in September 2023, the actress reflected on how motherhood “saved” her.

“I was 26 years old when I became a mother. My whole life changed. Having children saved me — and taught me to be different in this world,” she said.
