Jordan Chiles Talks Getting Glam With Simone Biles at the Paris Olympics: ‘We Had Fun in the Village’ (Exclusive)

Glamorous friends, stay together!

Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE during an event to announce her partnership with Vaseline on Sept. 5, Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles (who says the brand’s newest product, Pro VitaB3 Serum-Burst Lotion, has become her new “go-to” since it launched ), opened up about bonding over makeup with teammate Simone Biles at the 2024 Paris Games before the competition.

Chiles has previously shared the importance of wearing glamorous clothing during competition to look and feel her most confident during those high-pressure moments, so stepping — no, overturning — in the spotlight on the world’s biggest stage in Paris was no different.

Usually, Chiles looks to her older sister Jazmin to get glam for occasions in and out of the gym — however, the athlete tells PEOPLE that “unfortunately” she couldn’t wear makeup for the Olympics “because she wasn’t allowed to go to the village.”

So Chiles had to take her makeup into her own hands — and even turned to her gymnast “big sister” Biles for some inspiration! “I think we’ve been trying a lot of things,” Chiles, 23, tells PEOPLE of preparing with her “Golden Girl” teammate ahead of the Olympic competition.

“We were just bouncing ideas off each other,” Chiles continues. “[Biles] it was like, ‘Ooh, should I put more blush here?’ and I was like, ‘Should I put more emphasis here?'” He points out that Biles “used Milani a lot” in her makeup looks.

“I was like, okay, Miss Milani Queen! I see you with bronzer…with blushes!” Chiles recalls with a laugh their conversations before the routine.

They also gave away a product or two. “I think I took some of her lip gloss or something,” she remembers. “I thought, ‘Hey, can I use this real quick?'”

The girls’ flawless makeup complemented their embellished leotards covered in thousands of Swarovski crystals as they won gold in the women’s gymnastics team final at the Paris Games alongside teammates Jade Carey, Sunisa Lee and Hezly Rivera.

“I really enjoyed it,” Chiles says of the glamor with Biles, 27, at the Olympics. “I did her hair a few times, so that was really cool,” he reveals.

However, Chiles says Biles “didn’t do my hair” at the Olympics. Chiles adds, “We had fun at the Village.”

While the girls have been enjoying their glamorous process ahead of the Olympics, Chiles lets it be known that her “routine isn’t very long” on non-competition days. “It starts with a wash, it ends with a moisturizer… two products,” she says.

Chiles admits she had to “figure out” that simplified process overtime because she used “a bunch of stuff for no reason” when she was younger. “I realized that cleanser and moisturizer are the best combination,” she says, which is what makes her partnership with Vaseline so natural.

“I’ve been using Vaseline since I was little… I literally put it all over my body from head to toe,” Chiles tells PEOPLE exclusively.

“I was more than excited to work with them because as an athlete and gymnast, we don’t want things to be greasy – and with the lotion, it gives you this glamorous glow,” she says of the brand’s latest product, Pro VitaB3 Serum-Blowing Lotion. “It’s not greasy, it hydrates, it does everything.”

That’s because Vaseline Pro VitaB3 Serum-Burst Lotion is the brand’s first bursting serum format, which transforms into water droplets upon application and absorbs instantly to leave behind a smooth, hydrating finish.

“Every time I get out of the shower, every time I take the chalk off my body, I slather on Vaseline lotion to secure my body [feels] nice,” says Chiles. “I like to keep my skin hydrated, whether it’s on the inside or the outside… so adding Vaseline was easy for me.”

“I use it on my lips… I use it on my tattoos. I use it on my scars. I use it on literally everything,” she continues. “Having this partnership feels amazing.”
