Jordan Davis’ complete ballad ‘Next Thing You Know’ surpassed ‘What My World Spins Around’ to become the artist’s sixth number one hit. 1 within six months.
The much-loved song surpassed Morgan Wallen’s blockbuster “Last Night,” which had dominated the charts for the previous months, to reach the top of the Mediabase Country Chart. ‘Next Thing You Know’ collected 8,547 spins this week, while ‘Last Night’ was slightly behind with 8,502 spins.
‘Next Thing You Know’ follows in the footsteps of Jordan Davis’ hit with the Luke Bryan-assisted ‘Buy Dirt’, both tracks venturing into more contemplative and melancholic territory than Davis’ previous chart-topping singles, such as the pop-infused singles ‘You Up’ and ‘Take It From Me.
With the help of his co-writers Josh Osborne, Greylan James and Chase McGill, Davis impressively condenses a lifetime of significant events into the three minutes of “Next Thing You Know.” They take the listener on a colorful journey through falling in love, living together, getting married, raising children and watching them grow up and leave home.
