San Ramon police have taken a man into custody in connection with a racial and homophobic rant against two customers at In-N-Out Burger on Christmas Eve. San Ramon police said they received similar reports of what appeared to be the same man’s behavior prior to his arrest.

Arine Kim and Elliot Ha, the victims, told KPIX on Sunday that a man approached them and started making comments while they were eating some items from the restaurant’s secret menu. Neither of them could remember what had prompted this man to approach them and talk to them, but he quickly realized that his intention was to cause trouble.

In the video, Kim claims that after the man stared at them for a long time outside the restaurant, they felt threatened and asked the staff to take them to the parking lot. Abigail Hailili, a Danville resident, claims she encountered similar remarks on Christmas morning.

Police investigation
A representative for the San Ramon Police Department told ABC News in a statement late Monday that the investigation into both cases has made significant progress. Whether the two incidents are connected is still a mystery. The police called on the public for help in locating both perpetrators.
