Joshua Jackson Attributes Youthful Glow Up to Shaving His 'Covid Beard' and Being 'Very Happy' (Exclusive)

Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at the Walt Disney Company Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 15, the 46-year-old actor revealed that shaving off his Covid beard makes him look younger.

“I think I really shaved,” he said Dawson’s Creek he says when asked about his youthful appearance. “Yeah. I mean, I’m happy. I’m very happy, but I think the fact that I shaved, I think I’d look a lot younger without a full beard of COVID.”

The father-of-one also revealed that chasing after his daughter Juno Rose – who he shares with ex Jodie Turner-Smith – could play a part in his youthful appearance.

“I think it’s chasing a four-year-old,” he said Dawson’s Creek alum tells PEOPLE. “I think it keeps you young. “Gray hair might tell you something different, but yes, the only thing left is: ‘Your face is very youthful.’ You seem happy.’”

The proud dad also told how the desire to be close to his daughter contributed to accepting the role in the new medical drama Doctor Odysseus.

“Well, it was intentional, yes. It was very intentional – he says. “I just needed a break from being heavy all the time.”

He adds: “I also have a four-year-old daughter and I really wanted to be in Los Angeles when school started. So the play succeeds. So I can take her to school every morning and play daddy while I’m still at work. So it’s kind of a miracle.”

Speaking about what he and Juno like to do together, he tells PEOPLE, “We’re in a big The lion king phase right now, so it’s good. And yes, I mean, going to the park, sitting at home, doing arts and crafts. She’s just awesome. She’s just the funnest in the world.”
