Joy Sunday Debuts Subtle Design in Shaved Head, Plus ‘Whimsical’ Makeup at Emmy Awards (Exclusive)

Joy Sunday said her view of the Emmys would be “nothing short of monumental” — and she delivered on that promise Monday night.

The Wednesday actress (who plays set designer Bianca Barclay on the hit Netflix series), 27, who was recently named Lancôme’s newest global ambassador, arrived at the show on Monday in a white Safiyaa off-the-shoulder ensemble with a train. She accessorized the look with sparkling Alexis Bittar jewels and Jimmy Choo shoes.

But it was her glamor that drew attention. Hairstylist Sharif Poston added graphic lines to Sunday’s fashion cut hours before the show.

To complement her new style, she opted for “nice and fresh” makeup, pro star Sheika Daley tells PEOPLE. “She wanted it to be very wacky.” Together, the two created a look that featured “Twiggy beige eyeliner on the inner rim of the eyes, beautiful fluffy lashes on top and really dramatic lashes on the bottom,” says Daley. To add a rosy blush, she applied L’Absolu Rouge Intimatte in Got Me Blushing to Sunday’s cheeks as well as her lips.

Of working with the actress, Daley tells PEOPLE, “she’s a makeup artist’s dream,” explaining, “she doesn’t have hair, so it’s just a face!”

Sunday may be a relative newcomer to the red carpet, but she’s already proven she’s a fashion force from her first big moment in the spotlight at the 2022 world premiere. Wednesday, where she chose a strapless Harbison Studio midi-length dress in gold with gold pendants.

“I got to the rehearsal and my stylist, Darryl Glover, surprised me with the dress and we just knew it was right and we were so excited to do it,” she told PEOPLE of the look. “It was so whimsical and bright, yet fitting for my international debut. I love that look and I’m so happy we took that risk.”

And when it comes to feeling her best for the big event, Sunday says it’s all about the makeup. “When my face is completely done, I feel like I can walk in any pair of heels. Having my makeup set will dress up the look. That, and an abducted waist.”

Luckily for Sunday, one of the perks of being a Lancôme global ambassador is access to top makeup artists like Daley (who also works with Zendaya, Issa Rae and Kelly Rowland), as well as all of the brand’s products. She’s already hooked on Comfort hand cream and L’absola Rouge lip balm. “I have to keep them both on deck, they’re my essentials and I’m devastated if I leave the house without them.”
