Julia Garner and Jessica Henwick team up in a new chilling thriller.
On Thursday, Neon released the trailer for its new thriller Hotel Royalwhich stars Garner (29) and Henwick (31) as a couple of Americans who travel through Australia and take jobs in a bar to earn more money.
The trailer introduces the couple’s characters Hanna and Liv as they apply for jobs and arrive at the bar of the Royal Hotel in a remote Australian town, owned by Billy (Hugo Weaving). At first, Hanna and Liv decide to work at a bar temporarily until they earn enough money to travel elsewhere, but they quickly become uncomfortable with many of the patrons, who make sexually charged comments.

The film’s official synopsis describes Hanna and Liv as two “best friends traveling in Australia” who quickly lose their money.
“Liv, in search of adventure, convinces Hanna to take a temporary job bartending a pub called ‘The Royal Hotel’ in a remote mining town,” reads the synopsis.

“Bar owner Billy and a host of locals give the girls a wild introduction to Down Under’s drinking culture, but soon Hanna and Liv find themselves trapped in a disturbing situation that quickly spirals out of their control,” the synopsis adds.

The new film comes from Australian director Kitty Green, with whom she has worked before Ozark star Garner in his 2019 film Aide. Green cow Hotel Royalscreenplay with screenwriter and actor Oscar Redding.
Besides Garner, Weaving and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery actress Henwick, the film also stars Bree Bain, Toby Wallace, Ursula Yovich, Daniel Henshall, James Frecheville and Herbert Nordrum.
Hotel Royal had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival last Friday and will be screened at the Toronto Film Festival on Thursday. The film opens in theaters on October 6.
