Julia Roberts once again lends her megawatt smile to Lancôme.
The 56-year-old actress is the face of the latest fragrance of the brand La vie est belle L’Elixir. Created by master perfumers Antoine Maisondieu and Christophe Raynaud (Givaudan), the floral-woody gourmand fragrance builds on the original La vie est belle smell.
“A new symbol of floral modernity for this new chapter of La vie est belle,” is how Maisondieu describes L’Elixir via press release. “Behind this fragrance is the desire for softness, for pampering, for rediscovering the sensuality of the skin…[via] addition of woody violet dipped in irresistible raspberry liqueur and sprinkled with bitter cocoa.”
Lancôme highlighted Oscar winner Damien Chazelle (La La Land, Whiplash) for directing the cinematographic campaign. Shot on 35mm film, composed by Justin Hurwitz (La La Land), the short film follows Roberts as, moments before entering the party, she ditches her bright pink ball gown for a chic black suit and flees to a Parisian rooftop.

“[The film] captures Julia Roberts in a beautifully poetic, defining moment, as she chooses her own path over the expectations of others,” reads the press release. “With time magically suspended, Chazelle’s cinematic lens captures the actress as she looks out over Paris from the top of the Arc de Triomphe and experiences the exhilaration that it comes when you are the author of your own story.”

The campaign marks the first collaboration between Roberts, who has been a Lancôme ambassador for more than a decade, and Chazelle. “Working with Damien was a pleasure,” says the Oscar winner via press release. “For me, we fell into a rhythm so quickly and found a common point of humor which was an unexpected bonus. I hope to work together again!”

Herr, who opted for neutral colors and softly defined eyes, focused on “letting go.” [Roberts’] natural beauty shines,” she tells PEOPLE exclusively.”Julia loves her eyeliner. Instead of black, I used a dark brown eyeliner [24 Hour Drama Liquid Pencil in #2 French Chocolate]which is less serious,” continues Herr. “The addition of blush, which is important to enhance a youthful appearance. Lip color [L’Absolu Rouge Intimate Lipstick in #340 Lovers Whispers] it was perfect because it was just the right shade of pink—not too light and not too dark.”

Normant gave Roberts effortless loose waves, so her hair could “move nicely and feel natural and a bit loose.”
He started by applying Serge Normant Instant Dream Big Volumizing Mousse to wet hair, combing it from root to tip. He then blow-dried her hair with a round brush and added Serge Normant Dream Big Spray for instant volume.
After curling the middle section of her hair with a 1-inch curling iron, Normant finished by brushing and adding Serge Normant Meta Luxe Hairspray and Meta Sheer Dry Oil.
