Julianne Moore and I Have Both Used the Leave-In Conditioner That Transformed My Straw-Like Hair

Welcome to The A-List, where we review products that your favorite celebrities wear and use, and that we actually really love.

My hair used to be drier than the Sahara. But then I found my little oasis in this liquid gold product.

After more than a decade of highlighting my hair, it wasn’t as dry as you get after just a day or two of conditioner. My hair really felt like straw or hay, and was almost always coarse, knotty, and frizzy. So when Crown Affair sent me a leave-in conditioner to try, I half-expected it to be just another gimmick that would look pretty on my bathroom counter more than anything else.

But it was the thirst quencher my hair needed, and it has changed my hair ever since – I even bought it again with my own money and am now halfway through my second bottle. And yes, I see a third bottle in my future.

You don’t want to take my word for it? The moisturizing product was recently used on Julianne Moore ahead of the 2024 Critics Choice Awards. Her hairstylist, Mark Townsend, used a few pumps at the start of the glamor process while her hair was still damp, and then again just before hitting the red carpet, according to the brand. In addition to moisturizing, he said he used it “to add texture and definition to the curls of her hair.” He continued, “It also adds tons of shine to the hair.”

Almost immediately after I started using the multi-effect conditioner, I noticed similar results: my hair was less crunchy and coarse, and I could run my fingers through it without having to physically yank through the knots. But I actually noticed the biggest difference when I stopped using it.

A few days after using the miracle product, my hair looked and felt dry and weak again. But after I got my hands on a new bottle, my hair was silky soft again.

I usually run the detangling product through damp hair after wrapping it in the brand’s microfiber towel, but I occasionally use it on dry hair as well (another reason I love it so much). I’ll comb through it with my fingers, add my favorite hair oil on top, and then throw it all in a clip.

When I take it off a few hours later, my hair actually looks like it could be in a hair care commercial – it’s so wavy and bouncy. In the past, I’ve even gotten multiple compliments on how it looked, and it felt so elite to be able to say “Thanks, that’s my natural hair.” Although if I wanted to style it, it’s always nice to know that the product is designed to protect against heat damage.

And the scent of bergamot, yuzu and lemongrass also won praise. A friend recently asked me why I smelled so good, and I raised my hair at her and said, “Is that it?” I agreed emphatically yes.

At $48 a bottle, its price is the only downfall as far as I’m concerned. Since I use about four pumps a day, a bottle usually lasts me about four months. But I have a lot of hair and I wash it almost every day. However, if you use less, you should be able to extend the shelf life.
