Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur started practicing in the Delhi High Court in 1989. In November 2010, his registration was transferred to the Jammu and Kashmir Bar Association. He later joined his brother Justice Tiras Singh Thakur in the courtroom. In 2011, he was appointed Senior Advocate. On March 8, 2013, he was promoted to the post of Judge of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Later, he was transferred to Bombay High Court as a judge on June 10, 2022. During his tenure as a judge, Dheeraj Singh Thakur handled a large number of cases. He regularly demonstrates his talent and legal acumen in all areas of the law.
On February 9, 2023, a Supreme Court committee recommended the appointment of Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur as the Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court.
