Justin Timberlake is keeping his fans afloat ahead of the highly anticipated release of his new album.
On Tuesday, the pop star, 43, announced the second track from her upcoming record Everything I thought it was out this friday. He teased a new song called “Drown” and revealed its release date by posting a video on Instagram featuring a snippet of the song.
In the clip, the hitmaker delivers what appears to be an emotional ballad, playing a few verses acoustically while sitting at a piano.

“They’re about to break us / You showed me exactly who you are / And I should have believed it,” Timberlake sings in his signature high-register voice.
The musician continued to sing: “You left me alone in the dark / With all your demons / The tide caught me / From all the tears you cried / Yes, you know I was blinded by my heart / I was sinking from the beginning / I shouldn’t have followed you this far / Now I’m in the deep / And you let me drown / You didn’t even try to save me.”
The “Mirrors” singer announced the release date in the title and offered his fans an update on his health, as he shared on Instagram earlier this month that he had come down with the flu.
“I made it to London, still recovering from this flu. But I’m trying to push through,” the former *NSYNC member wrote. “So excited for the new music and everything coming this week.”

“Drown” is the second single from Timberlake’s upcoming sixth studio album, which is due out March 15 (via RCA). The lead single from the album “Selfish” follows.
In January, the Grammy winner revealed his long-awaited 2018 follow-up. Man from the forest was on the road and gave fans a taste of the new project by dropping “Selfish.” The mid-tempo ballad features the R&B sounds familiar from the beginning of Timberlake’s solo career and shows his vulnerable side as he sings about loving someone so strongly that it makes you feel envious.

Timberlake also said he looked to his personal past for inspiration. He revealed: “In some of the songs I was able to look back and have a real, not a fractured perspective of what was because they always say… you always hear that thing about, well, there’s never any truth, there’s just everybody’s perspective of what happened. But to actually look at it and be able to metabolize and verbalize my perspective on it, I don’t think I’ve ever done that before.”
“I think every artist probably says that, but it’s my best work,” Timberlake added.
A source recently told PEOPLE that “I can’t stop this feeling!” the singer’s new project came naturally when he felt the need to get back into the studio after spending the past few years away from work to focus on his family.
Timberlake “just had this need to recreate,” the source said. “It’s about time.”
The source explained that he’s been “lucky enough to spend a lot of family time together over the past few years” with his wife of nearly 12 years, Jessica Biel, and their two sons, Silas, 8½, and Phineas, 3½, and just felt excited to be making new music again.
