Political career of K. Annamalai
Annamalai began her political career with the BJP in August 2020 in the presence of L. Murugan and Muralidhar Rao at the BJP headquarters (New Delhi).
Annamalai became vice president of the BJP’s Tamil Nadu unit. As state vice president, Annamalai was part of the committee that negotiated an alliance with AlADMK in the National Democratic Alliance.
In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election, he went to the Aravakurichi assembly constituency and garnered a vote share of 38.9% to emerge as the first runner-up in the constituency.
After L. Murugan became a union minister, Annamalai was appointed as the president of the BJP’s Tamil Nadu unit.
On March 8, 2023, Annamalai and 13 BJP officials from his IT wing left the party to join the AIADMK.
