Kaitlyn Bristowe is opening up about how she feels Jason Tartick has dropped the ball since the couple called off their engagement.
Bristowe, 38, reflects on the social media negativity she has received since she and Tartick, 34, announced their split last month, primarily blaming her for the relationship’s demise while supporting Tartick.
“I will definitely hold myself accountable for certain things in the relationship, but … they don’t know anything,” the ex Bachelor the star said in her latest episode Off the Vine podcast with guest Amanda Hirsch. “I’m going to regret it. I really lost a friend because of this breakup. Like, it’s just crazy. I knew it was going to be bad. I didn’t know it was going to be this bad from what people were telling me.”

Bristowe then called out Trade secrets podcaster for not coming to her defense amid ongoing criticism, especially as he “leaned in” to that story about being “sad” by posting a video of their dogs Ramen and Pinot watching him move out. (Bristowe additionally noted that she was “crying in the bedroom” at the time he was moving out and filming the Instagram Reel.)
“We talked about, like, protecting each other through it because, like, of course when you’re going through breakups, you want to have your side and somebody has their side and you want to, like, justify it and say all these things,” she said. “But we really agreed to protect each other.”
“He didn’t protect me because I looked like I was taking his dogs away,” she continued, noting that she subsequently received “messages” about it.
“It made me very sad because the dogs are literally our No. 1 priority through this,” she added. “We’re both obsessed with them and we’ve made it very clear that we’re going to share them.”
In the emotional music video, the former couple’s dogs appeared sad as Tartick loaded their belongings from their shared home into a U-Haul truck. Tartick also noted that a good friend offered to help him move out.
“This was another reminder to me that it’s okay to show weakness, it’s okay to ask for help, and the support of family/friends is truly unbreakable when they know you really need to lean on,” he wrote on Instagram Reel. “I promise the sad posts will soon be behind me, it just felt too meaningful not to share. Thank you to everyone who has shown me respect and grace over the past month.”
Jason Tartick ‘barely trying to survive’ amid ‘tidal waves of depression’ following Kaitlyn Bristowe split
Bristowe and Tartick announced their separation in August after four years together. In their joint statement, the couple — who got engaged in May 2021 — said they were “grateful to end our engagement with love and respect for each other” and that “it is heartbreaking and sad to say goodbye, but our care and admiration for each other the other will never die.”
Bristowe later said there were “no sides” to the breakup.
“I’ve never respected someone more after a breakup than I did with Jason,” she continued Off the Vine last month. “I think people assume that if people break up, something bad happened. And I think that’s the hardest part of this whole breakup — nothing bad happened. It’s just that time passed. We both didn’t make each other a priority.”
