Lisa Lopez-Galvan, the woman who was killed during Wednesday’s mass shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade, has been remembered for her role as a devoted mother to her two children.
On Thursday, Lopez-Galvan’s brother Beto Lopez paid tribute to his sister, telling CNN’s Anderson Cooper that she was a “loving, caring and devoted mother.”
“We have tragic situations like this that unfortunately happen all too often and a lot of the time individuals are lost as just statistics or numbers,” Lopez said. “She has done so much for this community and the Kansas City area, raising money for many charities and organizations, and that is something we will forever be very proud of.”
Lopez-Galvan was shot at the end of a Chiefs parade in Kansas City, Missouri. Friends of the 43-year-old confirmed her death The Kansas City Star this week. The publication reported that Lopez-Galvan, a local radio DJ, died during surgery after suffering a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

“There was no connection to terrorism or domestic violent extremism,” Graves said. “It appears that this was an argument between several people that resulted in a shooting.” The victims ranged in age from 8 to 47, and at least half of those injured were under the age of 16, Graves said.
At a news conference the previous day, Graves said three people had been taken into custody and were “being investigated for today’s incident.”
After the shooting, many of the Chiefs players who participated in the procession spoke about the incident on social media and offered prayers to the victims involved.
“Praying for Kansas City🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼,” wrote Patrick Mahomes in the post shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), while Travis Kelce also shared his heartbreak.
“I am heartbroken by the tragedy that happened today,” tight end Kelce, 34, wrote on x. “My heart goes out to everyone who came to celebrate with us and was affected. KC, you mean the world to me.”
