Kat Von D aka Katherine von Drachenberg was born on Monday, March 8, 1982 in Montemorelos, Nuevo León, Mexico (age 41; as of 2023). Her zodiac sign is Pisces. When she was four, her family moved to the Inland Empire, Southern California, and later to Colton, California. Inspired by her grandmother, she began studying piano at the age of six. She started listening to punk music at the age of twelve, which had a huge influence on her, and she started wearing a mohawk and got her first tattoo at the age of fourteen. She got into a fight on the first day of seventh grade and dropped out. At 15, she spent six months at Provo Canyon School, a juvenile psychiatric treatment center, which she later described as the worst six months of her life. She had her first experience as a tattoo artist at the age of fourteen when she drew tattoos on a friend’s body. At the age of sixteen, Packer Dave found her a job at the Sin City Tattoo Parlor in Los Angeles, California. Later, when she was twenty-three, she started working at True Tattoo in Hollywood.
On April 3, 2007, she opened her own shop called HighVoltage Tattoo in Hollywood, California.

In 2008, she created a cosmetics line for the French brand Sephora, and later created fragrances. In 2016, she changed her products to be vegan. On September 2, 2010, she opened the Wonderland Gallery, an art gallery and boutique next to her tattoo shop. In 2011, she launched the clothing lines KVD Los Angeles and Kat Von D Los Angeles in the United States and Canada, which later became a global brand.
