Kate Bedingfield is an American political consultant who has been named White House communications director for the Biden administration. She previously served as deputy campaign manager for Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign. She was also Biden’s communications director during his tenure as vice president in the Obama administration.

Kate Bedingfield was born in 1982 (current age: 39; as of 2021) as Katherine Joan Bedingfield from Sandy Springs, Georgia. She attended Sandy Springs Charter Middle School and later attended Riverwood International Charter School in Atlanta, Georgia. Bedingfield lived near the Chattahoochee River in Atlanta and grew up playing softball and doing gymnastics. In an interview, while sharing a childhood memory, she said,
We lived along the Chattahoochee River…We used to go to the state park, the National Recreation Area, along the river and walk the dogs and play in the river. I remember playing softball at Morgan Falls (Park) and doing gymnastics at Hammond Park.”
She later pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Virginia.

In 2006, Bedingfield served as the regional press secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in Washington, D.C., after which she served as a spokesperson during John Edwards’ 2008 presidential campaign. She also served as the communications director for Jeanne Shaheen’s Senate campaign in 2008. In May 2013, Bedingfield served as a spokesperson and vice president of corporate communications for the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). In 2015, Bedingfield became the communications director for then-Vice President Joe Biden. During President Barack Obama’s term, Bedingfield was named director of response and deputy director of media affairs. She then served as deputy campaign manager for Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign. On January 20, 2021, she was named White House communications director for the Joe Biden administration.

My dad was a huge Warriors fan growing up, so I was a huge Warriors fan growing up. I grew up in Atlanta and have some very fond, and sometimes painful, memories of the Warriors.”
