Kate Middleton and Prince William are cheering on Great Britain at the 2024 Paris Olympics from afar.
William — sporting a new beard — and Kate joined other famous British stars (along with American rapper Snoop Dogg, who covered the Summer Games for NBC) in a video posted on their X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, August. 11, ahead of the closing ceremony in Paris.
“From all of us watching at home, congratulations to Team GB!” the Princess of Wales – who wore a casual white shirt with black stripes – said in the clip.
“Well done on everything you’ve achieved. You’ve been an inspiration to us all,” added the Prince of Wales, who was wearing a blue polo shirt emblazoned with the Olympic rings.
“Well done @TeamGB, what an amazing journey! Every athlete showed tremendous commitment, heart and passion. You made us all so proud!” Prince William and Princess Kate, both 42, wrote in the text of the post. “Here’s to celebrating every triumph at @Paris2024 and looking forward to more from @ParalympicsGB later in the summer.”
The post also included a British flag emoji alongside a gold medal emoji. William and Kate’s three children – Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6 – did not appear in the video, but several British athletes and celebrities, including David Beckham, accompanied the royal family in the video with their own messages of support .
There has been speculation that Kate and William could make a surprise appearance at the Paris Olympics in 2024. The couple have kept a low profile this summer, spending time privately with their three children. While their arrival remained uncertain, it was thought to depend on the progress of Princess Kate’s cancer treatment, as she mentioned that she has “good days and bad days”. It was also unclear whether the children would join them in France.

William’s bearded appearance comes while he and Kate are off duty in August and have been on holiday with their children. The Prince of Wales is usually clean-shaven, as was standard grooming protocol during his time in the Royal Air Force where facial hair was banned. However, he surprised fans on Christmas Day 2008 with a messier look which he quickly shaved off.
His late grandmother Queen Elizabeth reportedly disliked facial hair and insisted that her husband, Prince Philip, shave off the beard he grew during his 1965 solo Commonwealth tour.
William and Kate are known for their sporting sides and have passed their passion for athletics on to their children.

The Prince of Wales attended several football matches during the spring and summer, most recently attending the UEFA European Championship final in Germany with George on July 14. William — who was chairman of the Football Association, football’s governing body in England, before recently taking on the role of patron — brought his eldest son to see England play Spain. The shared enthusiasm between father and son was palpable and they embraced when England scored. Meanwhile, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis watched the soccer championship from home, as seen in a photo shared on social media.
Football has reportedly been a source of joy for Prince William as both his wife, Princess Kate, and his father, King Charles, are undergoing cancer treatment.
“He was extremely encouraged by Aston Villa’s results,” a close source previously told PEOPLE. “You should not ignore the importance of football in these moments.”

All the kings from around the world at the Paris Olympics…so far
July 14 was a sporting day for the family, as Princess Kate also attended the Wimbledon tennis championships with Princess Charlotte and her sister Pippa Middleton in London. The outing marked the second public appearance of the Princess of Wales this year as she continues her cancer treatment, and she was greeted by a standing ovation at the stadium.
Princess Kate, as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, continued the tradition of handing out trophies to the winners after the final.
The royal mother hinted at the adoration of tennis in her family when she met the champion in the men’s singles final, Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, in the clubhouse afterwards. “We’ve been watching a lot on TV so it’s great to finally meet you,” Princess Kate said in a video shared by Wimbledon.
Prince Louis did not join any outings, probably due to his age. Prince George and Princess Charlotte didn’t make their Wimbledon debut until they were 8 years old, hinting that their younger sibling may have to wait a little longer for a spot in the royal box.
