Kate Winslet Talks About Steps She Took to Boost Her Sex Drive as She Got Older: ‘You'll Feel Sexy Again’

Kate Winslet gets honest about her sexuality.

The Lee the actress, 48, said during the Sept. 10 episode How to Fail with Elizabeth Day podcast that her libido got a big boost after undergoing testosterone replacement therapy.

While answering a listener’s relationship question about how to regain her sex drive with her longtime boyfriend, Winslet offered advice and opened up about her health journey.

“Sometimes women have a really low libido because maybe there’s something going on with their thyroid. It could also be something going on with your testosterone level,” the Oscar winner said.

“A lot of people don’t know this, but women have testosterone in their body, when it runs out – like the eggs – it’s gone,” added Winslet. “And when it’s gone, you have to replace it, and that’s something that can be done and you’ll feel sexy again… I know.”

Winslet also suggested that the listener should get her thyroid and testosterone levels checked: “Those things could have a direct impact on how you actually feel. It’s not your fault, our bodies are weird and they act in weird ways, especially as we get older. ”

She continued, “So there could be a drop in those hormonal levels for you that contributes a lot more than you think to how you feel about having sex with your boyfriend, so I would definitely do that.”

Winslet also noted that the listener should be gentle with themselves as they navigate the situation.

The Titanic star also spoke about embracing body positivity during her appearance on the podcast, saying, “We have to own it [our bodies]this is the thing.”

“We’re so conditioned, women, in our 40s to think, ‘Oh, I’m coming to the end.’ You think you’re entering menopause and you’re going to stop having sex, your breasts are going to sag and your skin is going to be creepy,” she explained. “First of all, so what? And secondly, it’s just conditioning.”

“I think as women get older and sexier and more rooted in the truth of who they are and more powerful and able to walk the world and care less, that’s an empowering thing,” Winslet said. “I tell my friends all the time, ‘You look fantastic.’ ”

Winslet has been open about aging and her physicality. She previously spoke about being “brave” when it comes to nudity on screen. “I know that you shouldn’t waste precious energy criticizing yourself,” she said Vogue in an interview from September 2023.

“I think it’s better for every woman to simply say: I believe in myself. It doesn’t matter what other people think; this is me — let’s get on with it,” Winslet said.
