Kathi Mahesh Kumar, commonly known as Mahesh Kathi, is an Indian actor and film critic, primarily involved in Telugu film criticism. He is known for his incisive reviews of Telugu films.

Mahesh Kathi started his career in the field of development communications. He worked with various NGOs before entering the entertainment industry. In 2011, Mahesh made his acting debut in the Telugu film Edari Varsham.
He then worked as a co-writer for the Telugu film Minugurulu. In 2015, he made his directorial debut with the film Pesaratu (Telugu). In 2017, he co-wrote the screenplay for the film Egise Taarajuvvalu. Some of his popular Telugu films as an actor include Hrudaya Kaleyam (2014), Nene Raju Nene Mantri (2017), Kobbari Matta (2019), and Amma Rajyam Lo Kadapa Biddalu (2020).
His last film was Krack (2021). He played the role of Kathi in the film.

- In 2018, Kathi courted controversy when she called Lord Rama a “liar” during a debate on a local news channel and said that Sita and Ravana would be better off together. Following the incident, the Telangana Police banned Mahesh from entering Hyderabad for six months on July 9, 2018, under the Telangana Prevention of Anti-Social and Dangerous Activities Act, 1980.
- In February 2020, he was charged during an anti-CAA event at Osmania University in Hyderabad for saying that Lord Rama had a mistress and that Sita was willing to eat the golden deer that Lord Rama was chasing. After Mahesh was criticized for his remarks, his father came out in support of him and said that his son was being criticized only because he is a Dalit. He also said that what his son said about Lord Rama was 100 percent true and if one reads the book Ramayana Visha Vruksham, one will understand the true face of Lord Rama.

On July 10, 2021, Mahesh Karti died of respiratory failure at Apollo Hospital in Chennai. The hospital management confirmed the news to a local daily and said,
Karti Mahesh passed away at 4 pm on July 10. He had been in a serious condition since Friday evening and eventually passed away due to respiratory complications.”
On June 26, 2021, Kathi met with a road accident in Chandrasekharapuram village in Kodavalur mandal in Nellore. The actor was sitting in his Innova car when it hit a container truck, leaving him seriously injured. He was immediately rushed to Medicover Hospital in Nellore for treatment. Later, he was shifted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai for better treatment. The Andhra Pradesh government even provided a fund of Rs 1.7 crore for his treatment.

- Mahesh co-wrote the Telugu film Minuhurulu (2014), which was the first Telugu screenplay to be permanently collected by the Academy Library. It was also the first Telugu film to compete for the Academy Award for Best Feature Film.
