Katy Perry Officially Gains Ownership of $15 Million Montecito Home After Years-Long Legal Battle

Katy Perry officially owns her Montecito, California home after being embroiled in a years-long legal battle over it, PEOPLE can confirm.

The singer, 39, now owns the Santa Barbara County property under LLC DDoveB, according to property records he collected The Wall Street Journal.

According to the listing, Perry took ownership of the property on Friday, May 17. The company’s name is in honor of her 3-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, who she shares with fiancé Orlando Bloom.

Perry first purchased the 1930s mansion from businessman Carl Westcott for $15 million in July 2020. She intended to use the eight-bedroom, 11-bathroom property as her and Bloom’s family home.

Days after the deal was finalized, Westcott — who was diagnosed in 2015 with a genetic brain disorder known as Huntington’s disease — tried to void the deal, citing his mental incapacity.

After Westcott filed suit against Perry’s business manager Bernie Goodvi back in August 2020, the case then went to trial in late September 2023.

During opening statements, Westcott’s attorney Andrew Thomas said the 1-800-Flowers founder was showing signs of “delusion” and “intrusive thoughts” because of pain medication he was taking after spinal surgery when he sold his home.

He then claimed that Westcott felt “mentally clear” again a week after the surgery and told the brokerage firm representing Goodvi that he was not in his right mind to sign any binding contracts.

Despite his claims, the suit won a preliminary injunction in Perry’s favor in November 2023.

According to a stipulation filed in April 2024 and obtained by PEOPLE, the court issued a “Final Statement of Decision” in December 2023 and found that “Gudvi is entitled to certain performance of the real estate.”

The document also states that a trial “regarding Goodvi’s right to damages and/or other remedies” is to be held in July.
