Katy Perry Says Her and Orlando Bloom's Daughter Daisy Is Watching MTV for the 'First Time' for Singer's VMAs Vanguard Win

Katy Perry, winner of the Video Vanguard award at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, has the support of her biggest fans.

On Wednesday, September 11, the pop star walked the red carpet at New York’s UBS Arena with fiancé Orlando Bloom before accepting the coveted award.

In an interview before the show, the “Roar” singer, 39, revealed that her daughter Daisy Dove, 4, supports her and is watching MTV “for the first time.”

“Don’t stay up too late, honey. Eat your broccoli,” she said.

“I feel good. I had a daughter and it changed my whole life,” she added later. “I feel whole and more grounded. I write songs from a place of feeling true power. I feel truly connected to my divine feminine. It has changed my life for the better.”

The awards show marks Perry’s return to the MTV stage for the first time in seven years. On Wednesday, he will perform a mix of his greatest hits.

Perry also joins icons who have won the Vanguard Award, named after Michael Jackson, such as Shakira, Madonna, Beyoncé, The Beatles, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson and more.

“Katy is a musical force and a true pop culture icon,” Bruce Gillmer, Paramount’s president of music, music talent, programming and events and Paramount+’s chief content officer for music, said in a statement.

Earlier this month, Perry supported Bloom, 47, at the premiere of his new film Cut.

After the premiere, the actor told PEOPLE that Perry was “just terrified” when she saw the film.

“She was watching it and said, ‘I need a stiff drink,'” he said, later adding that she was crying. “She was really touched. She knew what was needed.”

The 2024 MTV VMAs air on September 11 at 8:00 PM ET/PT live from the UBS Arena in New York City.
