Discord between Kaushal Kishore’s family and daughter-in-law

Kaushal’s son Ayush was admitted to a hospital in Lucknow in March 2021 after some unidentified gunmen opened fire on him. Later, Ayush blamed his wife Ankita and brother-in-law for the attack. However, the police later issued a statement saying that Ayush planned the attack on himself to set a trap for his wife. Later, Ankita uploaded a video on social media and said that she would attempt suicide and the responsibility for her death would be borne by Kaushal, Ayush and her mother-in-law Jai Devi. After uploading the video, she went to Kaushal’s house and slit her wrists. She was rushed to hospital immediately and doctors saved her life. Later, Kaushal defended himself and told the media that the Kishore family had no relationship with Ankita and Ayush as they had severed all ties with the duo after their love marriage. In June 2021, Ankita’s father Ashish Singh accused Kaushal of kidnapping his daughter after she went missing. In an interview, Ashish said that after Ankita was abducted, she sent a message to her family and told them that Ayush’s brother Vikas Kishore and his friend Aman Ghazi had kidnapped her. Police claimed that the kidnapping charges against the Kishore family could be part of a conspiracy as Ankita’s family did not lodge a missing complaint with the police. Kishore denied the allegations and called them “false and baseless.”

Insensitive remarks about Shraddha Walker

In November 2022, Kaushal Kishore made controversial remarks against Shraddha Walker, accusing her of brutal murder. He also said that educated girls must not live together and that lessons must be learned from “uneducated girls”. He also advised girls to marry the groom chosen by their parents for them. Kaushal said in an interview,

This is also the responsibility of girls because they leave the parents who raised them for many years in one fell swoop. Why they live in a live-in relationship. If this must be done, the common-law relationship should be properly registered. If your parents are not willing to have the relationship openly, you should get married in court and live together. Most educated girls enter live-in relationships. Lessons should be learned from these incidents and uneducated girls. Those who were raised by their parents should be with someone on their own terms. This should stop. Over time, the government has created awareness among people…but now some policymaking will be done to curb such incidents. “

Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi called Shraddha’s remarks “callous and cruel” and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sack Kishore.

Facts/Trivia

  • Kaushal Kishore launched Nasha Mukt Samaj Andolan-Abhiyan Kaushal Ka after his son Akash Kishore passed away due to alcoholism on October 19, 2020 Anti-drug campaign. In August 2022, Kishore launched another anti-drug campaign called Hindustaniyo Nasha Chodo. Speaking in an interview about launching the anti-drug campaign, Kaushal said:

After my son (Akash Kishore) passed away due to alcoholism in October 2020, I promised to make India drug-free. Then I started a movement and so far 1.8 million people have pledged not to use drugs and 10,000 have stopped using drugs. Even though I am an MP myself and my wife is an MLA, we could not save him. While poisons kill instantly, any addiction like alcohol and drug abuse kills a person very slowly. We need to protect those who are not yet addicted to alcohol or any other substance. As India celebrates Azadi Ka Amrit Mohastuv, we have decided to launch another anti-drug campaign ‘Hindustaniyo Nasha Chodo’ on August 9 at Delhi University Sports Centre. “
