Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Warn Vanna White About New Wheel of Fortune Host Ryan Seacrest: ‘He Can’t Spell’

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos give Vanna White a friendly warning about her new co-host Ryan Seacrest.

During Thursday’s episode Living with Kelly and Markwere filled by the co-hosts of the same name Wheel of Fortune a reference to some of Seacrest’s quirks discovered during his six seasons on the daytime talk show.

When White, 66, revealed that the two were communicating, Ripa, 53, added that she was happy to hear that the 48-year-old television personality had been chosen as Pat Sajak’s successor.

Ryan Seacrest reacts to Vanna White’s contract for ‘Wheel of Fortune’: ‘I’m very happy to be able to work with her’

“I was very happy because when the host leaves and another one comes in, you never know what you’re going to get,” she explained. “And I thought, ‘Pat is such a nice guy,’ so I’m happy that the new version of Pat is going to be a nice guy, too.”

White then asked Ripa to “tell me everything” about her new co-host, to which Consuelos, 52, interjected and ironically said, “He can’t spell.”

“What!?” she exclaimed as Ripa agreed.

Consuelos asked if she’d noticed his poor writing during their text conversations, and while White hadn’t noticed anything out of the ordinary, she remarked, “Maybe he’s on his best behavior?”

“Maybe he’s dictating the text and someone’s typing it for him,” Ripa continued. “Because I will say – and I can say this freely, we’ve all experienced it here – when Ryan Seacrest texts you, you say to yourself, ‘This person is trying to tell me something.’ The first thing is to realize that Ryan is trying to tell you something, but often you just don’t know what it is.”

After thanking Ripa and Consuelos for their warnings, White revealed that she never tires of puns despite her tenure on Wheel of Fortune and shared that she often plays Wordle and Words with her friends.

Vanna White reveals she thought about leaving Wheel of Fortune with Pat Sajak: ‘A very difficult decision’ (exclusive)

“Spelling is not my forte,” Ripa said, as White and Consuelos bonded over their shared love of puns. “I’m bad at spelling. Even when the puzzle is solved Wheel of Fortune, it takes me a minute to understand what it says. Like, I’m not kidding.”

She added: “I’m not proud of it. Mark says, ‘What do you mean you don’t understand what it says?'”

Back in July, Sony Pictures Television announced that Seacrest had been selected as Sajak’s replacement Wheel of Fortune after announcing that he was stepping down as leader after 40 years of service.

Why Vanna White had to miss 5 episodes Wheel of Fortune Only a few weeks until Pat Sajak’s final season

Last month, American Idol host confirmed Ripa and Consuelos’ observations and told PEOPLE that he felt performance anxiety about stepping into Sajak’s role.

“I’m sure I’m going to get nervous,” he said. “The series has always been a staple for people, me and my family. And so you just want to go out there and do what’s been going on for so many years and not screw it up.”

“Actually, I’m a terrible speller,” Seacrest admitted. “But I’m better on the show than I am on my cell phone when I’m typing or texting.”
