Kelly Ripa Shows Off the Creative Way She Decorated the Construction Site in Front of Her N.Y.C. Townhouse for Christmas

Kelly Ripa isn’t letting a little build up get in the way of her holiday cheer!

The Living with Kelly and Mark host, 54, showed viewers how she works around the thorn outside her New York townhouse during the Monday, Dec. 9 episode with her husband and co-host Mark Consuelos.

“Many people wanted to see the front of the house and how I arranged the construction site,” she said. “And the people from the construction site are so accommodating and tolerant towards me.”

A photo of the exterior of Ripa and Consuelos’ residence is then shown on screen, revealing that the temporary structure outside their home is now decorated with a large red bow and topped with an inflatable snowman.

“I got this big snowman, and Mark didn’t want a snowman at all, so I asked the people on the site, ‘Can we put a snowman in here?’ And they said: ‘Whatever sails your ship!’ To which I said, ‘Oh my God, how can I get Mark to tell me that?'”

While her husband, 53, may not have agreed at first, Ripa says all the neighborhood dogs have taken a particular liking to the “little tiny package” outside.

“Cute, isn’t it? Festive. See, see the little package? Dogs usually pee there,” she added. “Not ours, someone else’s. And now we gave them something to urinate on. Isn’t that nice? Now they have a pee present. Isn’t it sweet? And we made a compromise!”

Also during the episode, Live wire the author revealed that they had to get a smaller tree for their home this year after realizing the first one they bought was bigger than they thought.

“This year we had two trees. One arrived and it was too big for us to fit in our house,” she said. “The Christmas tree is a big deal for me every year, it’s what I look forward to. And when the tree arrived and they opened it, it was like a scene [National Lampoon’s Christmas] Rest. The whole tree became [huge]. It was like an onion in full bloom.”

The original tree ended up taking up “the entire room” and was “3 feet taller” than the room’s ceiling height would allow, so they had to settle for a “three-foot” centerpiece instead, Ripa joked.

“So we got what I like to call Treamhic or Pinejaro,” she continued. “She’s thin, don’t make her thin – it’s a shame. She is sensitive to it. She practiced every day. she’s beautiful But when I tell you, hanging ornaments on this tree… even the brightest ornament and the branches are like, ‘I can’t.'”

Because the branches are too “loose,” as Consuelos said during the episode, Ripa noted that this year they had to get creative with placing their collection of ornaments, 33 years in the making, on the tree.

She debuted her glowing evergreen this year on Sunday, December 8, along with the hilarious caption, “Look ladies 🎄even the trees are thin this year #treemáchic?”

In 2019, Ripa changed that by decorating her tree with a series of nostalgic photos of her, the Consuelos and their children alongside their traditional ornaments they’ve collected over the years. The 28-year-old married couple has three children – Michael (27), Lola (23) and Joaquin (21).
