Until recently, Kemah Bob’s main claim to fame was that his facility was located in a town notorious for the 1993 ranch siege that was home to the religious cult’s headquarters.

The Guilty Feminist Team Podcast FOC IT UP! FOC stands for Femmes of Color.
Though it’s only been a few weeks in the making, notables like Athena Kugblena, Sikisa, Janine Harouni, host Desiree Burch and Sophie Duker, Japanese comedian Yuriko Kotani, 3 Non-Blondes’ Nina Benjamin, and Shazia Mirza have already made guest appearances.
After being shocked by what she calls the “blatant symbolism” and the general lack of non-white performers and attendees at popular shows in London, which she found “astonishing in the most diverse city in Europe”, Bob was motivated to found the organization. When we meet, he tells me that “the rest of the industry doesn’t really care about the diverse audience you serve with both the podcast and the comedy series.”
She says, “And I thought, wait a minute. Sure there are people who are interested in hearing about people who are like me and others who are not, but they don’t know where to look. Why we [people of colour or LGBTQ+] they are often the only ones on the show.”
The live podcast is something of an extension of the increasingly popular FOC evening. Bob competes, and after each featured comedian makes a small point, they all join in a lively and spontaneous conversation. Topics covered range from endometriosis to “commercial nonsense**”, “flirting” and divorce, football and “Scottish old men”. In one particularly memorable conversation, the topic of whether it’s acceptable to want a superyacht was blown.
