Kerry Washington knows how to make a statement on the red carpet.
On November 17 Unclosed star, 47, attended the star-studded 2024 Governors Awards in a romantic Elie Saab Haute Couture gown, styled by duo Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn.
The Emmy winner looked truly regal in the white design, which featured beaded and bejeweled cups and straps, a modest midriff and elegant floor-length trousers wrapped around her elbows. Anabela Chan’s choice of jewelery added another element of sparkle to the minimalist look.
Her hair was down, glamorously soft and ethereal.
While Washington was at the star-studded ceremony, which presents awards to individuals given by the Academy’s Board of Trustees, she was also celebrated at Ebony‘s Power 100 Gala as one of the winners of the Entertainment Powerhouses award, per Billboard.

Washington was most recently in attendance at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in August, where she took the stage with Vice President Kamala Harris’ granddaughters Amar, 8, and Leela, 6.
While discussing the experience with PEOPLE at the 7th Annual Black Love Summit in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 12, Washington shared that the kids were “so cute.”
“Those girls, they were great because they wanted to rehearse a hundred times. So backstage until the moment we came out, we rehearsed again and again and again,” she said.

“I thought they were wonderful and I think they helped me in a lot of ways to not be nervous. I was so focused on being there for them that I didn’t have time to think about that crazy crowd,” Washington continued.
The actress — who has daughter Isabelle, 10, and son Caleb Kelechi, 8, with husband Nnamdi Asomugha, and is also stepmom to Asomugha’s teenage daughter from a previous relationship — recently spoke with PEOPLE about their decision to keep their relationship and family out of the spotlight reflectors.
Washington shared in June that he wants to give his children “the same opportunity to define their own lives and enter the public space in their own way.”

“They’re not, like, locked up in a dungeon. They’re, you know, coming to the shoot, we’re going to places, we’re doing things. We feel like we want to give them the freedom to engage in public life the way they want, because that’s what we do, ” she continued.
We chose to be athletes and artists, and that is our choice, Washington said. “But we want to let them be kids.”
