Kerry Washington ‘Will Be There’ if Shonda Rhimes Makes a Scandal Movie

The Washington-based political drama ended its seven-season run in 2018

Kerry Washington wants to see Olivia Pope on the big screen!

In a conversation with Extra on Wednesday evening at The Hollywood ReporterWomen in entertainment, event Scandal star, 46, admitted she would be game to reboot the hit series as a movie.

However, the actress admitted that the decision will ultimately be left to the creator of the ABC series, Shondi Rhimes.

“That’s a question for Shonda Rhimes. I’ll be there if that happens,” Washington told Extra.

And the idea could soon become a reality! Earlier this year, Rhimes, 53, also entertained the possibility of bringing back Washington’s character, but for another television show instead.

“Oh, Olivia Pope,” she told IMdb during an interview in May when asked which of her characters she would like to bring back. “I like that character so much, even when she was bad. I like that character so much, she’s very interesting.”

The series, which ended its seven-season run in 2018, followed Washington’s character Olivia Pope, who was the former White House communications director for the US president. The anti-hero in the steamy political drama took viewers on a ride as she opens her own crisis management firm only to realize her clients aren’t the only ones with secrets.

Goldwyn, 63, played President Fitzgerald “Fitz” Thomas Grant III on the show, who was married to Melody “Mellie” Grant (played by Bellamy Young). He and Pope developed a forbidden romance that fans loved.

“Hi 👋🏾 DC #Olitz is ready for you ❤️,” Washington wrote in the caption, nodding to their characters Olivia and Fitz.

As fans, they patiently wait for the possible Scandal spin-off, there are many other real bombs to be found in the Ray memoirs of an actress.

“There’s a saying, ‘You’re only as sick as your secrets,'” Washington told PEOPLE in September ahead Thicker than waterliberation. “I think there’s truth to that. There’s so much healing and release in the truth and we don’t feel like we have to hide.”
