Kevin McKidd Praises ‘Amazing’ Girlfriend Danielle Savre: ‘I Feel Lucky on Many Levels’ (Exclusive)

There is nothing but love for Kevin McKidd and Danielle Savre!

The Grey’s Anatomy star couldn’t help but show off his girlfriend at the Walt Disney Company’s 2023 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles.

“Everything is great,” McKidd, 50, told PEOPLE at the post-Emmy party he attended with Savre, 35. “We’re really happy, and she’s an amazing human being, so I feel lucky on so many levels in my life right now. ”

McKidd and Savre, who star in Grey’s spinoff Station 19they were first seen together in June, the same month he finalized his divorce from ex-wife Ariella Goldrath.

A few weeks after being spotted on Lake Como in Italy, McKidd shared a video of him and Savre on safari in the Lower Zambezi, a national park on the north bank of the Zambezi River in Africa. The Rome the actor called this adventure “beautiful, awe-inspiring, humbling and uplifting”.

In November, McKidd and Savre made their red carpet debut at the Global Down Syndrome Foundation’s 15th Annual Be Beautiful Be Yourself Fashion Show in Denver. McKidd told PEOPLE on Monday that his real-life relationship with Shonda Rhimes “just happened.”

Earlier in the night at the Emmys on Monday, Grey’s Anatomy stars Katherine Heigl, Justin Chambers, Ellen Pompeo, James Pickens Jr. and Chandra Wilson reunited to present the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, during which Wilson, 54, highlighted the show’s record-breaking run.

“I thought that was nice to see Grey’s Anatomy featured above and honored for being the longest-running medical TV show in American television history, which is crazy to me,” McKidd said. “It’s wild. I mean, it’s like, I don’t know how that happens. I mean, we’re all still pinching ourselves. Every day we go to work and ask ourselves: ‘What? It is still running?'”

The Scottish star recalled that he never thought the ABC medical drama would last as long as it did when he started working on the show.

“When I started on the show in season five, because I’ve been on it for 15 years, people were saying, ‘I think we have another season. What do you think?’” McKidd recalled. “To sit and talk about how long you think you have. Most actors, if you get into a show for five years, you’re lucky.”

He deserved it Grey’s longevity on “quality of writing” and “quality of stories we tell.”

“It’s a blessing that the fans have stuck with it the way they have,” McKidd said, “and we don’t take that lightly.”

Last year, ABC picked up Grey’s Anatomy for Season 20, in which Pompeo, 54, will reprise her role as Meredith Gray after she left the show in Season 19.
