Kieran and Macaulay Culkin’s Beloved Mom ‘Having Some Hard Times with Her Health’

Patricia Brentrup — mother of Kieran and Macaulay Culkin — has been battling undisclosed health issues that have prevented her from joining her famous sons at recent events.

Brentrup’s husband, Mart Cox, to whom she was married for 12 years, said Page six that she was unable to attend the unveiling of Macaulay’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in December due to health issues.

“Patty was invited and they wanted to take her by plane, but she is going through difficult times with her health,” he told the newspaper.

Cox, 69, did not offer further details about the specifics of Brentrup’s health problems, but added that he and his wife spent some time with Kieran and his family — which includes wife Jazz Charton, 35, and daughter Kinsey Sioux, 4, and son Wilder Wolf , 2 — a few months last year.

“Kieran was looking after her and she was going to the doctors in town,” Cox said Page six. “All the kids were very helpful, oh sure. Just from Patty, they have a lot of love in them — she’s an amazing woman.”

While continuing his award winning streak for his role as Roman Roy in SuccessionKieran, 41, was vocal in his praise of his mother.

While accepting the award for Best Actor in a Drama Series at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards, the actor thanked “my wonderful mom. Mom, thank you for doing everything you did for us. You are an amazing woman.”

Backstage, he continued to talk about his mom, saying: “I have no idea how my mom did it – she raised [us] in this, actually, studio apartment and I don’t know how she managed it,” he continued, adding that she was “amazing” as a mother.

“Obviously [I] I wouldn’t be here without her,” he said of his decision to mention Brentrup, 69, in his speech. “Not just because of the sex she had with my father. For the woman she is. And for sex with my father.”

Kieran also mentioned his mother at this year’s Emmys, tearing up when he mentioned her in his lead actress in a drama acceptance speech, thanking Brentrup for “giving me life and my childhood, which was great. So thank you for to that.”

Backstage, Kieran continued to praise his mum – and take swipes at his dad, according to Page six. “She’s just a wonderful woman who took on raising seven children in a studio, by herself,” he said. “There was a guy there — he didn’t do anything.”

Kieran and Macauly have four siblings: Shane, 47, Quinn, 39, Christian, 36, and Rory, 34 — who is also an actor. Their sister Dakota died in 2008.

“No one ever gets more love than another. That’s how their mom raised them,” Cox told Page Six, adding, “even though Kieran always thought he was the favorite!”
