Kim Kardashian Says Her House is a 'Sanctuary' from 'the Chaos' — and Where SKKN Home Got Its Start (Exclusive)

Kim Kardashian doesn’t even have to look to her own backyard for inspiration for her product lines—it’s in her house.

The SKKN BY KIM founder opened up about how her own family home—a pristine, all-white estate in Hidden Hills, California—is the starting point for her creations, including her 5-piece home accessories collection and future creations, saying, “I can’t wait share.”

“My house is my sanctuary and when I designed it, I wanted to create a peaceful place to come home to after a hard day at work,” Kardashian tells PEOPLE ahead of her latest SKKN BY KIM MAKEUP launch. “Minimalist design keeps things clean and uncluttered, allowing me to truly let go and escape the chaos.”

“It’s like hitting the pause button,” she adds. “When everything is so zen, I can really recharge and let my creativity flow.”

Most importantly, she says, “it creates a sense of peace that allows me to be truly present with my children. At the end of the day, that’s what’s most important.”

The bedrooms of her four children — North, 11, Saint, 8, Chicago, 6, and Psalm, 5 — are the only places in the house that can violate that rule. “I let them each design their own room. They can go wild with whatever colors they want,” she says.

The otherwise understated style of Kardashian’s home has captured the attention of fans — as well as magazine covers and covers — and has been compared to everything from a monastery to a museum. But she says the spare allows her creativity to flow.

“I love concrete and gray tones, it feels really zen,” says Kardashian. “When I designed the packaging for my SKKN skincare line, I wanted it to look really good in my own home, and for the home accessories, I wanted to make sure they really complemented the skincare line.”

She often showed off the accessory line, which includes a sink, round tank, canister, tissue box and wastebasket (ranging from $65 to $129), in her own unique primary bathroom.

“I especially love that the round bin and container are perfect for storing cotton pads, sticks, or any small items on bathroom counters or around the house — they help keep my mine clutter-free,” she shares.

And while she won’t confirm or deny additional SKKN Home items to come, the businesswoman teases, “You’ll have to wait and see! We have a lot of exciting things in the works.”
