Benoit Blanc has more mysteries to solve.
After release Knives out and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mysterythe third film for the murder mystery franchise is currently in the works.
The upcoming sequel was first announced in March 2021, when Netflix bought the rights to the film Knives out franchise in a $400 million deal that included a second and third film.
Filming on the film ended in August 2024, and a few details have already been revealed by star Daniel Craig and Rian Johnson, writer and director of the first two films. Fans also believe that the second film offers a big clue about the plot of the third film.
On May 24, Netflix revealed the official title of the third installment Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. In addition, the streamer announced when fans can expect his announcement.

Who is in Knives out 3 honor?

Craig is set to reprise his role as Detective Benoit Blanc in the upcoming film. Since Johnson described the film trilogy as an anthology, it is unlikely that any other cast members from Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will return.
In May 2024, several new cast members were announced, including Bed actor Andrew Scott, Challengers actor Josh O’Connor and Priscilla actress Cailee Spaeny.
Glenn Close is among those joining the cast wake up dead and called making the film “truly one of the best experiences of my life” in an August 2024 interview with PEOPLE.
“I’m filming in London with Rian Johnson,” she said. “He is such a fine human being. He’s kind, he’s brilliant. He has a great laugh!”
She went on to praise Johnson for creating a “cast from heaven.”
“For the next two weeks we have scenes where we’re all in the same room and I can’t wait to see what he does, what he does and what she does. It’s so much fun,” she said.
What will Knives out 3 be around?
Official plot for Knives out 3 has yet to be announced, although some fans believe the second film includes a story easter egg for the upcoming film.
In one of the early scenes from the film, when everyone is surprised to see Benoit Blanc in the dock, Claire Debella (Kathryn Hahn) asks, “Did you solve the murder of – oh – what’s the name of – those ballerinas, is that you?” Fans believe that this is a hint that the third film could actually be a prequel to one of Benoit Blanc’s earlier cases.
In a clip shared by Netflix announcing the official title, a voiceover says this will be Blanc’s “most dangerous case yet.”

Johnson, who directed both Knives out and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mysteryhe will return to direct the third film. He will also write the script for the upcoming film.
When will Knives out 3 start recording?
As casting announcements began to arrive in May 2024, Diversity reported that production is expected to begin very “soon.”
As Johnson discovered at X (formerly Twitter)filming began on June 10 and ended on August 17.
“Aaaand that’s the end of Wake Up Dead Man. It went so fast! Best crew, amazing cast, this was a really special shoot and I can’t wait to put it together,” he wrote.
When will Knives out 3 be released?
In an interview with Deadline released in November 2022, Johnson has revealed that he is still in the early stages of planning a third film, meaning a release date is still a long way off.
“[It’s] the idea to figure out how it can be completely different from this one, as well as the first one,” he said, noting that he will likely start writing the script in early 2023.
“I have a Moleskine notebook that I carry everywhere and I’m constantly jotting things down in it. The first 80 percent of the process, for me, is scribbling in notebooks and structuring everything. I’m trying to get ahead,” he continued. “Even when I’m doing all the publicity for this movie, I’m trying to start building the structure, the idea, so that after the New Year, when it’s time to actually get down to business, I hope I’m not just staring at that horrible blank page, but you always are , I guess.”
Netflix revealed this on May 24 Knives out 3 will start broadcasting in 2025.

Will there be a Knives out 4?

Although Netflix has not greenlit a fourth film, Johnson is open to making more films if the script is right. “If each of them can really be what Agatha Christie did, if they can not only be in a completely new place with a new cast, but also try something exciting, I’ll keep doing it as long as Daniel [Craig] and I’m having a good time. I’ll keep doing them as long as they let me,” he said Diversity.
Craig echoed those same thoughts as he spoke to Deadlineadding, “If people are interested, we’ll make them. But if it ever got to the point where Rian and I thought we were just throwing them out, I think we’d back off. I mean, we just don’t. I don’t think that’s what anybody he wants us to work in life, unless people are entertained by them, forget it.”
