Krishan Bahadur Pathak’s hockey talent was recognized at the Kapurthala Railway Coach Factory where he first played. He was then selected for the Raily Coach Factory hockey team and a few years later, Krishan Bahadur was selected for the Indian Oil men’s hockey team. When he was about 16 years old, Krishan was a regular student at the Surjit Singh Hockey Academy in Jalandhar. He later qualified for the Indian men’s national under-19 hockey team and became the goalkeeper of the team. After being selected, he represented India in the 2016 Men’s Hockey Youth World Cup held in India, where the team defeated Belgium 2-1.
In the same year, he also represented Mumbai hockey team “Dabang Mumbai” in the fourth season of the professional hockey championship “Hockey India League 2016” (HIL).
In 2017, Krishan Bahadur represented the Indian Hockey Team in the 27th Australian Men’s Hockey League held in Perth, Australia.
In the same year, he represented the Indian Oil Corporation hockey team in the Mumbai Gold Cup and won the final of the tournament.
In 2018, Krishan Bahadur represented the Indian hockey team in the 2018 Four Nations Invitational Tournament held in New Zealand. In the same year, Krishan Bahadur was selected for the Indian team that won the bronze medal in the 2018 Asian Games finals in Jakarta. He also participated with the Indian team in the 14th Hockey World Cup held in Bhubaneswar, India.
In 2022, he represented India in the men’s hockey competition at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, where the Indian hockey team won the silver medal.
The following year, Krishna Bahadur represented the Indian hockey team in the 2023 Men’s Asian Champions Cup and eventually won the championship.
In the same year, he participated in the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, where the Indian team won the gold medal.

- His father died two days before Krishan was set to make his international debut, a seven-match series against England’s junior team. He decided to continue playing, even without attending his father’s last rites, just to represent his country in international competitions. Six months after his father’s death, Krishan Bahadur was the chief goalkeeper of the Indian hockey team at the 2016 Junior Hockey World Cup.
- Krishan comes from a very poor family and his father could not make ends meet which is why Krishan started carrying debris at construction sites in order to provide financial help to his family.
- Krishan Bahadur was never interested in sports; however, his father always wanted him to pursue a career in hockey, so Krishan joined Olympia Surjit Singh Hockey Academy in Jalandhar at the age of 12 .
- After the death of his parents, Krishan Bahadur was raised by his uncle Chander Bahadur Pathak, who used to live in Kapurthala.
- When Krishan was about 14 years old and living in Kapurthala RCF, the Indian Railways and the Border Security Force organized a hockey match at the RCF. The Indian Railways had no wicketkeeper at that time and Krishan was invited to play as wicketkeeper for their team.
- He considers Indian hockey player and goalkeeper Parattu Raveendran Sreejesh to be his biggest inspiration in goalkeeping.
