Krishna Kapoor was born on December 30, 1930 in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, India. She is Prithviraj Kapoor’s cousin as she is the daughter of Prithviraj’s mother’s brother. She married Raj Kapoor when she was 16 years old. She is the grandmother of Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor.
Her son Randhir told PTI, “My mother passed away due to cardiac arrest around 5 am today… Old age was another factor. We are deeply saddened by her death.”

Krishna spent the last few years of his life complaining of breathing difficulties. She had been hospitalized for treatment before. She died of cardiac arrest at around 5 a.m. on October 1, 2018. He died at the age of 87.
