Kristin Cavallari Was Not ‘Searching Out’ Romance with a Man 13 Years Younger and Admits It Was a ‘Hangup’

Kristin Cavallari may be well on her way to falling in love with her 24-year-old boyfriend, but at the beginning of their relationship, she doubted his age.

A few weeks after the rocky launch of her relationship with Mark Estes on Instagram – with a sweet photo from their romantic getaway to Mexico – Cavallari, 37, revealed how she really felt about their 13-year age difference in their early days dating the former college football player.

“I want you to know that dating a 24-year-old is not something that I, like, asked for,” she said on Tuesday’s episode of her podcast, Let’s be honest with Kristin Cavallari.

“If you listen to the podcast, you know, I thought 30-year-olds were too young for me. I understand how it looks to the outside world, I really do. I get that,” she said, adding that Estes is “not your typical 24-year-old.”

“When I met him, I obviously thought he was the most handsome guy I’d ever seen. There was – that attraction was always there. But when I met him, I thought he was actually a really nice, good guy. He’s very sweet — from the jump, he was so sweet to me. As the first thing he said to me while we were standing there and [had] As soon as we met, he said, ‘You’re, like, really beautiful.'”

However, she has now admitted: “I don’t care and I’m all for this guy and I don’t care what anyone thinks.”

Speaking about the intense interest in her relationship after she shared it with the world in late February, Cavallari said her “entire career has been preparing me for this moment because when this news came out, it’s the first time in my life that I’m 100% I don’t care what anyone thinks.”

The only thing that matters to her is the opinion of her mom and her children. “I think because I know that I’m happy, I know what Montana is really like, I know what this is. I know even my own mother has said how calm and great she is – she is, my mum notices the difference in me. And that’s what matters.”

The relationship is the first Cavallari has gone public with in the four years since her divorce from Jay Cutler, and she said she had tough conversations with Estes to make sure he was on the same page as her when it came to what they needed in partnership.

“I had a lot of conversations with him about it. I said, ‘These are my concerns. You are 24 years old and just moved to Nashville. This is the time you should come out. If you’re on TikTok, you know you’re getting a bad rap on TikTok. You should go out every night. You should hang out with different girls. Like, this is the moment you should do it,’ she shared. “I’m following his lead on this one, folks.”

“This man makes me really happy right now,” Cavallari said, adding, “We’re just trying to have a little fun. Well, I mean, no, it’s – it’s more than that. I don’t want to diminish that, because I really like this guy and I actually think what we have is very serious.”
