Rolling Stones fans in Chicago got a special treat this weekend when one of the biggest stars in country music today joined the legendary band on stage.
On Sunday, June 30, the iconic rock group enlisted Lainey Wilson to perform their 1971 song “Dead Flowers” with them at Soldier Field. The concert was the second time the Stones have performed the country-inspired album on their latest tour after inviting singer-songwriter Tyler Childers to sing with them in Orlando on June 3.

In fan-filmed footage posted on YouTube, Wilson, 32, is seen on stage with the Stones in blindfolds, a varsity jacket and a black cowboy hat as frontman Mick Jagger, 80, lines up his guitar to strum the song’s first verse.
After harmonizing with the lead rocker on the chorus, the “Watermelon Moonshine” singer tackles the second verse, singing, “Well, when you’re sitting in your rose pink Cadillac / You bet on Kentucky Derby Day / I’ll be in my basement room with a needle and a spoon / And another girl can take away my pain.”

After performing together, the Stones boasted of “another amazing night in Chicago” in an Instagram post, thanking fans for coming out and giving “special thanks to @laineywilson for joining Dead Flowers 🥀”.
Wilson returned the gesture in her own post, where she boasted about sharing the stage with the rock legends.

“Last night I got to hang out with the rock stars of all rock stars,” the country musician captioned a series of photos and videos. “@mickjagger @officialkeef @ronniewood @therollingstones – you are legendary to say the least. What a pleasure, what an honor, what a night!! Woof. 🤯🤘🌸.”
In early June, Wilson shared her disbelief at her first slot on the Stones’ tour in an interview with Country 102.5, saying, “Can you believe it? I’m going to play a show with the Rolling Stones. Yeah, they’re going to have to get me out of there because it’s completely crazy.”

The Bell Bottom Country artist — who will release her next studio album, WhirlwindAugust 23 — also recalled meeting the legendary rockers in Nashville around 2016/2017. and he recalled thinking, “‘I may never get to see them again’.”
Fast-forwarding to their show in Chicago, the singer told the radio station what she hoped to say to the group when they came face-to-face. “Maybe I’ll get a chance to meet them and tell them how much the Rolling Stones meant to country music and music in general,” she said. “I can’t believe I’ll be sharing the stage with them. Mick Jagger is going to show me some new moves.”
The Stones are currently on their Hackney Diamonds stadium tour, which kicked off in Houston on April 28, in support of their eponymous 24th studio album. The trio is set to conclude their road trip at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California on Wednesday, July 17.
