During her audition, LaKisha sang Aretha Franklin’s Think. She impressed the judge with her powerful vocals and skill. It was then revealed that she sang And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going during her elimination episode audition. At one of the Hollywood auditions, she also sang Until You Come Back To Me by Stevie Wonder. She received good feedback for her solo performance, I Will Always Love You. In late September 2007, it was revealed that Jones would take on the role of the church soloist in the Broadway musical The Color Purples on January 9, 2008.
In June 2008, LaKisha vocally coached the girls on MTV’s Legally Blonde: The Musical – The Search For Elle Woods. She later went on American Idol Extra and sang Just As I Am, a song from her upcoming album due out in May 2008. I’m So Glad to Be Me. On October 21, 2008, her first song was published.
