Lamar Odom is “fine” after crashing his car into two parked vehicles in Los Angeles in the early morning hours of September 11, his rep has confirmed.
Odom’s representative, Gina Rodriguez, told PEOPLE on Sunday that the crash happened around 3 a.m. when the 43-year-old former NBA player was on his way home from a friend’s apartment in Northridge. TMZ first broke the news.
According to Rodriguez, Odom was behind the wheel of his white Mercedes when “his phone dropped and hit the floor and when he reached for it, his hand went with it” and he ran into a parked car which then hit another parked car nearby at the time of impact.
Rodriguez told PEOPLE that no one was in the parked vehicles at the time they collided and that no one else was involved in the crash.
She confirmed that Odom “was completely fine” but that he “was a little shaken” because “all three of his airbags deployed.”

LAPD officers later arrived at the scene, where Odom explained to them how the accident happened, according to Rodriguez. She told PEOPLE that officers questioned whether Odom was sober at the time of the crash because they “knew his history” of substance abuse issues.
Rodriguez confirmed to PEOPLE that Odom told authorities he “didn’t drink” and “didn’t use any drugs” since he now owns addiction recovery centers.
As a result, the LAPD did not conduct any field sobriety tests, she noted.
The LAPD witnessed Odom exchanging insurance information with the two owners of the hit vehicles, and he was driven home by his security guard, who was already following behind him as his Mercedes had to be towed, according to Rodriguez.

The former Lakers star was previously involved in a fatal car accident in 2011 when his rider hit a motorcycle, which killed a 15-year-old boy – right after visiting his cousin in a hospital in New York.
Odom recounted the accident in an interview with VladTV in 2021. He explained that the accident happened while he was returning from a haircut in Queens after seeing his cousin when the driver handed him the phone and didn’t see the motorcyclist trying to make a left turn.
At that moment, the driver hit the motorcyclist, who then crashed into a minor pedestrian. The motorcyclist was in stable condition at the same hospital where the 15-year-old died from his injuries, ESPN reported at the time.
