Laverne Cox Leaves E!’s Red Carpet Coverage After 3 Years: ‘I’m So Excited to Keep Growing’

Laverne Cox has said goodbye to E!’s red carpet coverage.

Cox, 52, announced on Thursday, January 2, that she is leaving the channel after three years and will now star in a new comedy series, A clean slate.

“It is with an incredible amount of gratitude that I have decided not to return as the host of #LiveFromE’s red carpet coverage. I’m so incredibly proud of the work we’ve accomplished during my three-year tenure,” the Daytime Emmy winner wrote on Instagram.

The Orange is the new black alum continued thanks to NBCU and E! for “incredible support”.

“These moments are a reminder of what an incredible privilege it has been to talk to some of the world’s greatest artists about their work, dealing with the pressures of success, etc.,” Cox wrote.

“I am so excited to continue to grow, develop and explore great opportunities as an actress, artist, presenter and speaker. I hope you all continue to follow me on my journey of development,” Cox added before informing her followers to watch her new comedy series, A clean slate.

Cox will not be walking the carpet for the 82nd Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, January 6. Instead, Access to HollywoodHosted by Zuri Hall and comedian Heather McMahan Live on E!: The Golden Globes, which begins at 6:00 PM ET.

Cox’s Instagram post included a video montage of clips from her coverage on the carpet, highlighting the “Legends, Looks and Love” from her tenure. She has covered moments from the Oscars, Emmys, Grammys and more with Tracee Ellis Ross, Andrew Garfield, Martin Short, Steve Martin, Cynthia Eriva, Anne Hathaway, Duo Lipa, Kylie Minogue, Colman Domingo, Quinto Brunson, Jessica Chastain, Lady Gaga , Jennifer Aniston and Kate McKinnon.

Cox also included a reunion with an ex Orange is the new black Costar Danielle Brooks, and concluded with a tearful moment with Baby reindeer star Nava Mau.

In the video, Mau, 32, was the first to go over to talk to Cox, who became emotional as the two embraced. “I’m supposed to keep it together, I’m the host,” Cox said, fanning her face. “I’m so proud of you.”

Although fans won’t be able to catch Cox on the red carpet, her new series premieres on Thursday, February 6.
