Frito-Lay has issued a recall on a limited number of its Lay’s Classic potato chips, which could affect people with milk allergies.
The company announced in a Monday, Dec. 16, posting on the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) website that some of its 13 oz. or “party size” bags may contain undeclared milk.
Frito-Lay was alerted to the undeclared allergen through a consumer contact, but said as of Dec. 16, no allergic reactions related to this recall had been reported.
The products in question were on store shelves in Oregon and Washington as early as Nov. 3, according to Frito-Lay. The affected crisps bags have a “Guaranteed Fresh” date of February 11, 2025 and production codes “6462307xx” or “6463307xx”.

A person with a milk allergy who ingests the product may experience mild symptoms including “wheezing, vomiting, hives and digestive problems” or more serious symptoms such as anaphylaxis, according to the Mayo Clinic.
Although most symptoms will appear as soon as a person ingests milk, in some cases there may be a delayed reaction. A person may experience vomiting and diarrhea or other symptoms for several hours after consumption, according to the health company.
